A team of Polish scientists, including CeNT’s researchers: Dr. Michał Świerniak, Dr. Anna Wójcicka, and Prof. Krystian Jażdżewski has discovered a method for more effective diagnosis of patients with the highest risk of aggressive form of thyroid cancer.

Physicians and geneticists from the Centre of New Technologies of University of Warsaw, Medical University of Warsaw and the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Institute of Oncology in Warsaw discovered that the severity of the course of the disease is associated with the presence of an inborn mutation in the DIRC3 gene. The presence of this gene mutation means the given patient can be assigned to the high-risk group and should be treated more intensively.
