The prestigious grant "International Research Agenda", awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science, will be carried out at CeNT UW in collaboration with the foreign partner - the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG). The awarded funds will allow for the formation of a new international research unit, called ReMedy, which will operate within CeNT UW. ReMedy will consist of  seven research teams focused on studying the adaptive cellular mechanisms triggered by stress. In many situations, stress adversely affects the functionality of cells, ultimately resulting in disease conditions. Better understanding of the stress-induced mechanisms that affect cells is the necessary first step towards the development of new treatments and medicines that reverse these adverse changes.

We hope that as the result of our fascinating research program and the strengthened collaboration with our scientific partner, Peter Rehling from the University Medical Center Göttingen, the scientific output of ReMedy will be of interest to the companies from the life sciences sector and will become the basis for the development of new therapeutic treatments.
The success of our application is the result of a teamwork. We would like to sincerely thank Dr Iwona Cymerman, Dr Agata Sulej, Roch Grabowski, Ewa Jabłonka-Gronowska, Marysia Łepkowska, and the entire CeNT UW staff, who helped to demonstrate CeNT's potential and openness to expanding the research agenda of our institution."
