Project title: “The role of MLK4 amplification in breast cancer progression – studies in 3D cell culture and in vivo models.”
Project is carried out within the “Homing” programme of the Foundation for Polish Sciences.
Project description:
The project focuses on evaluating the role of MLK4 (serine/threonine kinase) in the progression of breast cancer. The hypothesis is based on the recent data showing gene amplification and mRNA upregulation of MLK4 in invasive breast carcinoma. The project will establish the impact of high expression of MLK4 in breast cancer cell lines in 3 dimensional (3D) cell culture and in vivo mouse models, and will determine if MLK4 can be targeted in breast cancer therapy.
Key responsibilities of candidates:

  1. Performing experimental research under the supervision of the project leader (including cell culture, 3D cell culture, molecular cloning, transfections, various phenotypic assays, kinase assays).
  2. Participation in group meetings.

Requirements for candidates:

  1. Master student of biotechnology, biology or similar field.
  2. Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  3. Enthusiastic and motivated for science.
