Ph.D. student position in the Laboratory of Quantum Molecular Systems


"Ultracold quantum mixtures of ions with atoms, molecules, and Rydberg atoms: novel hybrid systems and applications" within the OPUS grant from the National Science Centre. The project will be realized in the Centre of New Technologies at the University of Warsaw under the direction of dr. Michał Tomza (

The aim of the project is to propose novel hybrid systems based on ultracold quantum mixtures of atomic ions with atoms, molecules, and Rydberg atoms and to investigate theoretically their properties, dynamics, and potential applications in frontier research.

Candidate's profile:

  • M.Sc. degree in physics or related field (as for September 2017),
  • Wish to complete Ph.D. thesis in physics or chemistry in our Laboratory,
  • Interest in the subject and motivation to scientific work,
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics and experience in programming.

Candidate should expect:

  • Scholarship of 3000 PLN (netto) per month for 36 months with the
  • possibility to extend for next 12 months within other project.

  • To learn and develop skills in the field of AMO physics and quantum chemistry.
